Aber island sits at the mouth of the Aber river. It is a peninsula at low tide, and an island at high tide. As for the Lostmarc’h head, this feature made it a natural shelter where an oppidum was built. Along the river, there is an old defence fort and a lime kiln.

L’île de l’Aber est à l’embouchure de la rivière de l’Aber. C’est une presqu’île à marée basse et une île à marée haute. Comme la pointe de Lostmarc’h, cette caractéristique en faisait un abri naturel et un oppidum a été construit. Le long de la rivière, il y a un ancien fort de défense et un four à chaux.

We swam along the peninsula, at the end there is another small island (the pyramid form on the left of the photo above). Interestingly, the sea has cut it in two and we swam under this stone porch to get to the further side of the island. Fortunately the sea was very quiet, it was a nice, about 2 km long monofin swim.

Nous avons nagé le long de la presqu’île, à son extrémité il y a une petite île (la forme pyramidale sur la gauche de la photo ci-dessus). De manière intéressante, la mer a coupé cette île en deux et nous avons nagé sous ce porche de pierre pour aller de l’autre côté de l’île. Heureusement la mer était très calme, c’était un parcours sympa d’environ 2 km en monopalme.
