The visit starts above the deck of the 47 m long ship. It’s very impressive to see such a big boat made of wood, even if the task seems a little bit crazy.
La visite commence au-dessus du pont de ce bateau de 47 m de long. C’est vraiment impressionnant de voir un bateau si gros construit en bois, même si ça paraît un peu fou.
Walking around the outside of the ship, you can see the stern up close. It was the place were officers were housed, so it’s got lots of style… and colour.
En marchant autour du bateau, on peut voir la poupe de près. C’était l’endroit où les officiers étaient logés, donc c’est plein de style… et de couleur.
The chubby hull can be seen from top to bottom.
On peut voir la coque rebondie sur tout sa hauteur.
The task of sculpting the figurehead of the ship was awarded to an English maritime woodcarver, Andrew Peters. He has designed a lion based on the original ship’s figurehead.
La tâche de sculpter la figure de proue du bateau a été confiée à un sculpteur maritime anglais, Andrew Peters. Il a dessiné un lion basé sur la figure de proue du bateau original.
